1700 German Veldsman Families in the Cape


Although we know the DNA analysis shows a link to North West Germany, we do not know the exact link with which German family in Swellendam Cape Town.

All the Veldsman’s, Veldtman’s, Feldmann’s lived in the Swellendam area between 1750’s to late 1890’s. We would like to confirm the link from our family to one of these families below.

We know we are related to one of the families, at this point we don’t know which one. Research is currently being carried out to confirm the link

And Marr. Reg. of Swellendam). The following were probably also his children: Frederik Johannes ~Hester Carolina Koch (Test. O.C. 117:97) and Petrus Christoffel ~Elisabeth Jacomina van Rooyen (Test.O.C. 119:39).



2.  FELDMANN, Johann Heinrich (S. Veldman in CJ 883:67). Son of Johann Christoph Friedrich F. and Anna Louisa Culemann (W. Schmidt, p. 145). –Rinteln. So. 1751-67, superintendent at Rietvalley 1768-69, b. 1770. ~24.11.1771 Judith van EEDEN, wid. Hendrik Swanepoel (Marr. Reg. of Paarl). One son. +1773. (GMR 1751-69; Rq. 1768-70:70; G.R. nr. 991; Bdlr. 8:28.) His son, Johan Hendrik, was married to Anna Margaretha v. Erencroon, d. of Johann Anton v. Erencroon (q.v.). Children: Johannes Jacobus Christoffel (*4.4.1795), Jacobus Petrus (*25.1.1796), Anna Catharina Elisabeth (23.10.1798), Judith Hendrica (2.2.1800), Johan Hendrik (28.5.1801), Frederik Christoffel (13.4.1803), Anna Christina (14.10.1804), Gerrit Herman (22.9.1805), Anna Margaretha (30.10.1810). The first two children were baptised 6.6.1797 at Paarl, the others at Swellendam.
